Reseach

The finanl project before summer break 2010.
This was the final paper for an independent study (Soc. 498) that I completed in collaboration with one of my mentors, Dr. M. Therese Seibert, Ph.D. and Erin Waters, a fellow Sociology student. The topic of our research was Rescue During the Rwandan Genocide, and we are some of the first people to comprehensively examine rescuers as actors within the genocide as opposed to focusing exclusively on victims and perpetrators. We also focus on the process of rescue and compare it to the substantial body of existing data on the Holocaust. Dr. Seibert is revisiting Rwanda soon (she goes bi-annually), and if the grant proposal goes over successfully I may be joining her. Erin was in charge of theory, Therese filled a supervisory role, and I was responsible for the literature review, data collection, and methodology.
